I used the Sunpak Platinum Plus 7500 Pro tripod for this video, along with the Canon HV20. All demo shots were done with no practice. This technique is not meant for very large or heavy cameras, but is ideal for consumer-sized camcorders like the HV20.

Build a crude and simple 'steadicam' with no equipment at all. You just need the concept: a camera with a counterweight. Then simply grasp it at the balance point. (No, it's not QUITE as good as an expensive professional version. Heh.) Also: turn the tripod's pan handle sideways and grab it for more horizontal stability.
