This is my first time out with my new camera. The clicking/rattling of the base has now been eliminated with a slight modification to the camera base. All these shots are from the "First Person Shooter" view and came out pretty good. I got some great sustained lead with follow through shots. I got in to the field late at about 07:30 lugging 3 video cameras and tripods 2 Mojo decoys and bucket with ice and water to sit on. It took 1 box of shells and 1 hour to get a limit of doves and one bunny. Some images may be disturbing to people that do not know where their food comes from. My Dogs and I do know where food comes from and cant wait for it to hit the grill tonight. The Bunny will be Filipino Adobo tomorrow. Kelly's dog Mack is doing GREAT! The more these dogs get out and hunt the smarter they get. Deutsch Drahthaars kick ass. They point, track scent and blood, retrieve on land and water, hunt ducks, quail, rabbit, boar, deer, raccoon's and squirrels. Brought home covered in mud and soaked in rain many times on my rides around Panama and I have been very impressed by how strong it is. When I hurt my leg on the Cerro Banco trip I used it as a cane as I hiked for hours to and from the waterfall. Stopping at small rivers once in a while to wash the mud that gathered up on the bottom. I do wish it would fit better in my luggage, but taking everything into account like size, weight, cost, and quality I really believe this is the best tripod on the market for a traveling film maker on a budget. I've abused mine for over a year now and it still looks brand new.

If you've seen our other tripod video explaining the benefits you'll know what a cool bit of camera kit a tripod is. If not go watch it now. The main job of a tripod is to keep your camera nice and steady regardless of the surface you're working on. Grass, thick carpet, heather if you're photographing landscape are all springy bouncy surfaces and on a windy day even a carbon fibre tripod will wobble about when standing on any of these. I recommend you A) look for the heaviest tripod you can cope with or B) Make sure it has a hook so you can hang a camera bag (heavier the better) onto it if you need to. If you're tripod wobbles even the tiniest bit during an exposure you'll get a fuzzy soft photo through camera shake. So spend a bit of money and get the sturdiest triopd you can. The next thing to think about is the tripod head. A big strong 'pod is going to be useless if you put a bendy plastic head on it. I prefer ball heads because they're quicker and easier to use than thos fiddly pan and tilt heads which about three things to unlock and adjust each time you set up a shot. Finally don't be cheap - be prepared to invest some proper money into a tripod - at least £100 minimum because it'll last years and years and will make a bigger difference to your photography than anything else. If you're thinking of spending only about £25 - £50 go and spend the money down the pub because a cheap ...

These ties have a slotted end and a tag end. When you stick the tag end through the slotted end you can pull the wire tie up tight so it will be fastened in place, leaving a long tag end that stays in place when it's undone. The Velcro wire tie was looped through the cordage loop and then fastened to the trekking pole, leaving the long tag end free to hold the StickPic. Now when you unfasten the tag end to remove the StickPic, the wire tie is still fastened to the trekking pole so it doesn't get lost. This video is 1440 x 1080 MOV clips recoded with a Canon HF M30 at 7Mbps and then rendered to 1440 x 1080 H.264/AVCHD format at 12Mbps.

One very windy day in Michigan, my flag pole came crashing down in my yard. I saved the pole sections and later had an idea to use them for a home made camera jib. I bought 2 used german equatorial telescope mounts and tripods on eBay. I disassembled the mounts for the worm gears, axles and tube cuff. One gear is used for tilt control and I eventually plan to use the 2nd gear for pan control. The motor controller was purchased here: www.electronickits.com Other parts I had laying around the house or bought at garage sale or hardware store. Although the motor is noisy, it's possible to do dutch rolls by mounting the camera sideways on the platform. The tube can also be fixed at 45 degrees in the cuff to accept our Merlin Steadicam on the front-end axle (motorless/quiet mode). READ ME!! (EDIT) - I have finally FIXED the problems with this design by replacing the tripod leg and the cabling system with different materials. (EDIT) - Felt I needed to add this because of an unforeseen flaw: _________________________________ The twisting of the arm because of the weight of the camera being to one side makes it more difficult to use. At ground level, it tilts clockwise a bit, when it is mid-level (parallel with the pivot point, it is perfectly level, and when it is up high, it tilts slightly counter-clockwise. I can fix this in post, and have used this on two shoots already. but it is a pain. _________________ Lightweight, VERY portable, and achieves tilt. Ok - the title is a bit misleading. I already had almost everything I needed to make this new jib. So yes, it only cost me to make. If you bought the parts now it would cost approximately -35 depending upon how much the tripod costs. I used parts from an old Targus tripod (mainly the legs) to create the arm for the jib, and then used L-brackets and a bunch of nuts and bolts.
